Tips from OUR Prostate Lab
1) Get a Copy of Your Pathology Report (and even read it!)
A careful reading of its contents will make you an better informed patient, better able to make rational treatment decisions with the aid of your urologist, surgeon, or oncologist.
2) Know your Gleason Score
3) How many cores were involved? Both sides, or only one?
4) Was there cancer in the apex (if no, surgery is more likely to be successful)?
5) Was there any High Grade disease (Gleason pattern 4 or 5)?
6) Is there any evidence of poor prognostic factors (intravascular invasion, extracapsular penetration, or significant perineural involvement)?
7) Does the tumor demonstrate vascular density?
